The Best Hairstyles for the Summer

The Best Hairstyles for the Summer
Warm sun, cool breezes, and happy smiles; at least we hope! For the unbearable heat coming down on your head and wind that leaves your hair tacked to your face, here are the best styles to consider for summer. (F.Y.I. Some images below depict higher and lower hair positions for your convenience!)

Ponytail Can't go wrong with the classic ponytail hairstyle. Consider placing a higher ponytail on top of the head if the regular spot tends to bother the sides of your face and or shoulders.

Bun
This style is far from difficult and is perfect for long or short dos! Not only does it keep hair from your face but feels almost weightless atop your head.

Doubles
Pigtails are a hassle free way of keeping your locks out of the way. The updo is cute for most any hair length. Or... You may like a bun on top of your head, but why not change it up and add two? Dubbed as 'space buns', this look is trendy and timeless if styled appropriately.

Braids
Hair is usually pulled away from your face with a braid. Although, it does depend on which style you choose. Dutch Crown Braid is the perfect braid for keeping hair contained in a rather adorable way. Meanwhile, a braid like Fishtail is unkempt, yet fabulous in every right! There are many fashions of braids, these are only a couple examples.

Headband/Floral Crown Perhaps you want to accessorize! You can easily tuck your hair to resemble a shorter cut by using a
headband or floral crown. Tuck your hair into the back side of the band/crown letting the front be exposed.

Half Up, Half Down A dainty style that's been around for ages, it can be for bob like haircuts and of course, longer hair. I'd personally recommend as I have shoulder length hair and it doesn't gather for a full updo. It's as easy as slipping a hair tie between upper and lower sectioned off hair.

Cover Up
If you cover your hair with a summer hat, cap, or visor, it can help to keep the scorch of sun at bay. This simple solution can make all the difference protecting your head and face from burning up.

Keeping Long Hair From Getting Tangled

Keeping Long Hair From Getting Tangled

This tip is just what the title states! I've listed a small variety of options for keeping your hair in good condition and to hopefully stave off any unwanted tangles or knots when it comes to taking care of your hair.

_________________________________________________________

Avoid Unkempt Hair If you're prone to getting tangles easily, try avoiding unkempt hair at night. Wear a loose braid (if length allows) before going to bed.

Shampoo and Conditioner This can benefit any hair type actually, but I added it because it does help for lengthy hair in the long run. When it comes to showering, use shampoo for the top of your head only, massaging gently to the scalp. Conditioner should be used for the ends only. Think of it this way, shampoo strips of the oils and any added chemicals when used on the scalp. Any excess shampoo rinses through the ends of your hair anyway. Conditioner then creates a barrier protecting your ends, which is actually the most vulnerable part of the hair. This way, any tangling is almost resistant because your ends are where those suckers form.

Section Off
Use your hands to section off your hair into parts. Whether it be in half or quarters, this idea can help to make the detangling process a bit more convenient. This is a great idea for fresh out of the shower to an afternoon pamper up.

Starting Point A good way to start combing out hair for the day is with the ends. Start with your ends and gradually make your way up to the top. This starting point makes it easy to first get rid of those nasty knots. Another thing to remember is not to yank on the hair, but gently comb through. Sure, it takes a little bit of time, but in the end? Oh, it's worth it!

Specialty Comb For those with long hair who might get tangles or knots quite frequently, consider investing in a fine toothed comb or brush. They are made especially for those irritable messes. They can ease the removal of tangles and knots gentler and safer.
